About the client
Our client is a recognized hospitality and travel services professional in The Bahamas with extensive experience organizing events and guest experiences for private groups. Due to confidentiality requirements, the project is presented under its original prototype name, Bahamas Transfers.
Challenge
The client organized travel and hospitality services for invited tourist groups attending events and staying at partner hotels across The Bahamas. Managing transportation, activities, payments, and guest communication through fragmented processes created operational complexity and increased administrative workload. The client needed a digital platform that would simplify guest interactions and give internal teams better control over bookings, services, and financial operations.
An additional technical requirement involved integrating the non-standard Plug’n Pay payment gateway. This payment gateway was selected for its compatibility with local banking infrastructure and ability to process payments without extra fees.

Solution
Our team developed a custom travel and hospitality software platform and integrated it into the client’s existing WordPress website, creating a consistent user experience between the public-facing site and the private guest portal.
Built with Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL, the solution was delivered iteratively and expanded through multiple development stages since 2017.
The guest-facing portal allowed invited travelers to access transportation and activity bookings, complete payments, receive confirmations, view trip-related information, and rate their experience through a private online environment designed specifically for organized tourist groups.
Alongside the customer portal, we developed an administrative environment that enabled internal teams to manage guest groups, bookings, activities, payments, and operational workflows from a single system. Administrative tools also included reporting, confirmations, invoice generation, filtering, and data export capabilities to support daily operations.
An important part of the implementation was integrating the Plug’n Pay payment gateway through ActiveMerchant to support local banking requirements and cost-efficient payment processing.
