About the Client
Willem and Teun Bontrup are the co-founders of Tackle Group Europe, one of Europe’s largest online fishing retailers. Founded in 2011, the company has grown from a small daily deal website into a network of 10+ online shops operating in more than 10 countries. Tackle Group offers over 25,000 products for anglers and manages its own fishing brand, Ultimate.
Challenge
As Tackle Group Europe expanded rapidly, its manual warehouse operations could no longer keep pace with increasing order volumes. To support growth, the company moved to a larger facility and invested in automation machinery. Krononsoft was engaged to:
-
Develop software to control warehouse equipment and streamline operations.
-
Integrate the new system with the existing e-commerce platform and inventory management tool (Picqer).
-
Optimize storage allocation for incoming goods.
-
Automate order assembly, packaging, and dispatch processes.
-
Track staff workload and generate management reports to support operational oversight.
Solution
Krononsoft developed and integrated a custom warehouse automation application into Tackle Group Europe’s existing e-commerce system. The team launched the first version in just six weeks and delivered full functionality within four months, with only a project manager and a full-stack developer driving the project.
-
Inbound goods management. Integration with the inventory system to capture supplier deliveries, allocate optimal storage slots, and route items via conveyors to unpacking zones. Workers receive storage coordinates directly on barcode scanners.
-
Order assembly and dispatch. Automated workflows initiate picking once all items are in stock, direct conveyors through relevant zones, guide operators via scanners and laser pointers, and handle packaging, labeling, and dispatch. Customers automatically receive delivery tracking links.
-
Staff workload tracking. Monitoring of employee workload based on time, volume, weight, and size of items processed, generating reports for management to ensure fair task allocation and compensation.
Since launch, the Krononsoft team has continued to maintain and enhance the application to support the client’s ongoing growth.
